Description

The Gimbre is a three stringed instrument that is a significant part of the Gnawa music tradition. The rectangular body is strung with three goat gut strings. The Gimbre is played bystriking the skin with the knuckles of the right hand and plucking the strings with the thumb and index finger. This technique produces a percussive bass like tone.
