The djembe is a traditional musical instrument from a wide region in West Africa. The area encompasses the countries of Mali, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Sierra Leon, Liberia, Burkina Faso, and can be found in other fringe countries especially Ghana during the last decade or two because of its popularity and demand as an instrument of choice for so many different applications. Each country has developed a particular style of djembe and it’s usually easy to identify one from Mali, Guinea, or another country. Like everything else, styles are always changing, some more quickly depending on the demand, but the woods stay the same, and for a traditional djembe sound it’s usually the heavier woods that are used. These woods tend to be more resonate and bring out clearer and more defined tones and slaps. The wood djembe shell is sculpted with hand tools from a single tree trunk using traditional African drum woods that produce the best sound. روليت الفرنسي The natural animal hides used for drum heads include goat, bovine, and deer and are the most common types. We believe there is no one correct djembe sound, like people’s voices everyone is unique and in the spirit of the music it is the conversation, the message that is sounded that informs, entertains and heals. Our goal is to connect people with a nice sounding, comfortable drum to play to allow for the best manifestation of these positive life aspects.
