$777.00
Description
The Mali balafon we stock are Bobo style, tuned to a penatonic 5-note scale, all are tuned similar and play well together. Compared to the Susu jeli type the wood types are the same but the keys are thinner and wider and the gourd resonators bigger for more depth and sustain of the bass sound. The keys, and usually the frame are made from goni wood (Pterocarpus erinaceus) a commonly used quality musical instrument wood used throughout West Africa. Two rubber tipped playing mallets are provided with each instrument
