Description
A Mali balafon is a traditional West African percussion instrument with wooden keys, gourd resonators, and characteristic buzzing sound created by a membrane-covered hole in the gourds. Its keys are often made from specific woods like béné or goni. Produces warm, deep, and resonant tones with a unique, slightly shimmering or buzzing quality. Tuned to the pentatonic scale. Can be played in a variety of ways, including solo, in ensembles of multiple balafons, or with other percussion instruments.
Two rubber tipped playing mallets are provided with each instrument.
