Motherland Quality Doundouns                              The Foundation

Doundouns are usually played in sets of three, pitched high, medium, and low. They provide a melodic bass foundation for dancers, vocals, and other instrumentation; including djembe and balafon. Motherland’s doundouns are made in several regions of West Africa using traditional lightweight and hardwood type woods. Most doundouns are fixed with thick cow skin and pulled tight, we also make available goat skin doundouns that are more traditional to some Mali music. All doundoun listings show the exact drum, either singly or in sets, you get what you see.
