The bougarabou sound is earthy and melodic with a strong bass resonance, solid tones and popping slaps. It has both conga and djembe attributes that make it a unique and special sounding drum. Motherland bougarabou shells are hand carved from various woods including, iroko (milicia excelsa), lenke (afzelia africnana), and d’jalla. all premium African drum woods. The drums are assembled with thicker cowhide and strung with strong tension cord that allows the skins to be tightly pulled.
